VMware Browser console: keyboard incorrect mapping, installing VMRC on Linux

Not sure why VMware can’t get this right and why there are 10 different consoles?
I was getting a keyboard error where in the browser console i press \ on my keyboard it displays a # instead.

This is very frustrating if you need to type in UNC paths which I was trying to do at the time.
A number of people are getting the issue and still no fix for this?

The workaround is to install the VMRC console which I have done below:

Download VMware remote console from this link, current v.10.0.1:
https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/details?downloadGroup=VMRC1001&productId=614

Run the install from terminal with the following:
[ccie_bash]sudo sh ./VMware-Remote-Console-10.0.1-5898794.x86_64.bundle[/ccie_bash]
